When the german federal counsellor Friedrich Merz said that people should ask their daughters what they thought about his racist statement about the ‘problem in the cityscape,’ it became very clear how the ruling parties of Germany try to set up different sections (e.g. migrants and woman) of the population against each other.

It is not our fight against sexism that divides us, but the ruling class that divides the exploited by fuelling sexist, queerphobic, racist and nationalist prejudices. These prejudices then culminate in ever-increasing numbers of sexist and queerphobic violence, especially in domestic settings.

We want to fight with you against this and against the increasing tendencies of anti-feminism in Germany. This anti-feminism is also evident in the Berlin Senate’s new draft budget, which, despite rising domestic violence against women, closes women’s shelters that are essential for survival and cuts violence prevention services. These massive social cuts mainly affect women in feminised sectors such as the health sector.

Together with you, we would like to watch a film (approx. 40 min) about the strike by employees of the Charité Facility Management (CFM, a subsidiary of Charité University Hospital). The film is about migrant women who have been fighting for over 10 years against their bosses to have their wages adjusted and who have been suffering for years from the sexist and racist policies of the Berlin Senate.

Afterwards, we would like to discuss the film with you and analyse how the protagonists in the film criticise the strike management by their union verdi. This will be followed by a brief introduction to the history of the international Bread and Roses movement.

We would also like to take to the streets with you on 25 November, the Day Against Patriarchal Violence! To this end, we want to discuss which political issues we can best raise and how.

The open meeting will take place on 2 November 2025 from 3 p.m. at Rosa und Karl, Sonnenallee 152, 12059 Berlin. We want to make ourselves comfortable and drink tea, coffee or other fun drinks together, and snacks will also be provided. Feel free to bring your friends, colleagues, family and even your children!

The event will be held in german, but live english translation will be available.
